Installation
The Smokemaster C-12 can be easily mounted to the ceiling or a wall, ensuring optimal placement for maximum air cleaning efficiency. The C-12 does not come with mounting hardware, but it has pre-drilled holes for most ceiling joists. Common installation options include direct to ceiling framework, light decorative chain or cable, 3/8" threaded rod, or wall mounting.
Smokemaster® key feature is the the Coanda Aerodynamic Principle

The multidirectional airflow pattern—the Coanda Aerodynamic Principle—is Smokemaster's primary characteristic. The amount of contaminated air that reaches the air cleaner is maximized by the special 4-way air recirculation technology. It most effectively delivers the most contaminated air to the machine. Once at the air cleaner, "electrostatic precipitation"—the charging of particles to be collected with the primary washable cell—is used to capture the contaminated air particles. This offers an eco-friendly air cleaning solution with excellent cleaning efficiency and lower overall maintenance expenses.
Smokemaster® Filtration Process
Metal Mesh Pre-Filter, Stage 1
Large particles including hair, lint, and pollen are stopped from entering the electronic cell by the C-12 prefilter.
Although the pre-filter can be cleaned, it should be changed after few uses.
Electronic Cells in Stage 2
There are two electrostatic cells in the Smokemaster C-12. Over 97% of airborne pollutants are captured by the cells during each run through the C-12 through a process known as electrostatic precipitation. Individual pollutant particles are electrically charged by the electronic cell's ionizing portion. They are compelled to stick to the collector plates that are oppositely charged by the electrostatic charge.
Periodically cleaning the electronic cells is necessary to keep them operating efficiently.
Stage 3 Carbon Post Filters Are Optional Although these filters are optional, they are essentially required if you want a better level of odor elimination. Carbon contributes to a cleaner, odorless air discharge by eliminating gasses, VOCs, and odors. All four exhaust vents have carbon filters installed.
Filters should be changed every four to six months since carbon cannot be cleaned.
How Do Electronic Air Cleaners Work?

Electronic air cleaners, or electrostatic precipitators, operate in 3 (or 4) stages:
- Large particles like lint and hair are caught by the prefilter(s).
- Charging Section: Ionizer wires impart a positive high-voltage charge to incoming smoke, fumes, and dust particles. Even particles as small as 0.3 microns, are charged.
-
Collection Section: Charged particles are drawn into a secondary electric field where they collect on metal plates, re-circulating clean air back into the general air stream.
- Post Filter (optional): Carbon post-filters absorbs odors, fumes and noxious gasses.
