Skuttle 190
High-Capacity Thermoplastic Bypass Drum Humidifier 17gpd

Skuttle 190 thermoplastic bypass drum humidifier high capacity 17 gallons per day. Includes the humidifier assembly, with an evaporator pad, manual humidistat, self-piercing saddle valve, 6" diameter bypass duct, 24 volt transformer, summer shut-off damper, and mounting hardware.

The model 190 is reversible and can be set up for a right of left side installation. The humidifier can be assembled with the 6" bypass opening on the right or left side, as well as mounting the float, the overflow drain, and drum motor on the right or left side.

The drum humidifier uses minimal water and electricity. No drain required. Durable thermoplastic cabinet resists rust, corrosion, and warping. Interior components designed for easy cleaning or replacement. No tools required to replace evaporator pad. A clear window allows a quick easy inspection.

Skuttle Current Sensing Relay A50

The relay is clamped on to the blower wire and has an internal switch that closes when the blower receives current. The blower voltage can be 120v or 240v, only the is amperage important. The internal switch is electronic and can only switch on or off 24 volts, such as any 24 vac humidifier.

Skuttle Automatic Flushing Timer

The flushing timer drains the humidifier water pan allowing it to refill with fresh clean water. The timer is set to drain the water every 12 hours. Flushing the humidifier keeps the humidifier clean of stagnant water and mineral deposits from accumulating.

Skuttle 190 Versus Honeywell 120

Honeywell 120A is idetical to HDT2600The Skuttle 190 is the same as the Honeywell HE120A. Skuttle manufactures the 120 for Honeywell as well as the white-Rodgers.

All items included with the HE120A are also included with the 190. As well as all internal parts are the same.

Skuttle 190 Versus White-Rogers HDT2600

Skuttle 190 is identical to HDT2600The White-Rodgers HDT2600 is the same as the Skuttle 190. Skuttle manufactures the HDT2600 for White-Rodgers and applies their logo.

All items included with the Skuttle 190 are also included with the HDT2600. As well as all internal parts are the same.

By-Pass Versus Power Humidifier

By-pass Humidifier Demostration
Power Humidifier Demostration
The term By-Pass or Power refers to the driving force behind the air flow. The Power humidifier (aka Fan Power) uses a fan to draw the air thru the humidifier. The ByPass humidifier uses a 6" diameter duct that connects the supply to the return duct.

In the ByPass configuration the air leaving the furnace is routed back to the supply. The warm air leaving the furnace takes this short-cut of least resistance and bypasses the long trip down the duct work, in to the house, and back through the return. The ByPass is the 6" round duct work shown to the left. During the the hot humid A/C season the ByPass duct should be closed with a butterfly valve since the air flow through the humidifier would not be needed.

The Power humidifier uses a fan to draw air in from the duct and through the humidifier and exhausts back out in to the duct. The air is drawn in through duct at the center of the humidifier and back out in to the duct at the sides. The power humidifier should be mounted in vertical warm air flow.

The HE225 and HE265 are ByPass humidifiers. The HE365 is a fan powered humidifier.

Manual Versus Automatic Humidistat

The indoor humidity level needs to be set based on the outside temperature. This is to prevent water from running down the windows. The cool air near the windows can not hold the humidity and water will condense on the glass. To prevent this condensation, the indoor humidity level is sacrificed by lowering the humidistat.

An automatic humidistat (Aprilaire 60 or Honeywell H6062A) adjusts the humidity by using an outside temperature sensor.

Manual humidistat as used in earlier humidifiers (Model 4655 or H8908b1010) requires adjusting the relative humidity based on the outside temperature. A manual humidistat needs to be set back as the season gets colder. The chart below shows the humidity setting for a range of outside temperatures.

Skuttle Warranty

Skuttle one Year Limited Warranty

The Skuttle warranty for our new model 190 humidifier is one year. Our customers simply ship us the defective part. We inspect and test and confirm defective. We then ship back a brand new part.

The problem with humidifiers is typically due to water quality. Parts will corrode or freeze up with calcium and lime deposits. The mineral deposits from hard water will contain salt that can corrode the motor. Water filtration and treatment is the solution. The warranty does not cover problems with corrosion.
